About the Archdiocese of New Samoa
The Archdiocese of New Samoa serves a small but vibrant Catholic community in Tuamasaga District, Samoa. Established in 1957, the Archdiocese continues to shepherd the faithful with dedication, humility, and a spirit of service rooted in the Gospel. Though little known outside our region, our mission remains the same: to guide, strengthen, and accompany God’s people in faith and community life.
Our History
The Archdiocese of New Samoa was founded in 1957, during a period when mission territories across the Pacific were being organized into dioceses and archdioceses. What began as a small group of mission stations has since grown into a network of 15 parishes. While the Archdiocese has never been large, it has played an important role in nurturing vocations, supporting families, and keeping the Catholic faith alive in the heart of Samoa.
Our Mission
Our mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, administer the sacraments, and serve the people of God in New Samoa with humility and devotion. We are committed to fostering strong families, encouraging vocations, and reaching out to those who feel distant from the Church. As a small archdiocese, we see our size as a blessing. It allows us to serve our faithful personally and closely, ensuring that every parish and every community remains part of the Church’s life.

Looking Ahead
While deeply rooted in tradition, the Archdiocese of New Samoa also embraces opportunities to use modern means for evangelization and outreach. From rural parish missions to digital pastoral initiatives like SinForgive.com, our goal is to serve the faithful wherever they may be found, drawing them closer to Christ and encouraging them to participate in the life of their local parish.
